expressing any number as difference of two squares (Std VII)

Express 17 as difference of two squares.

Answer:

{(a+b)/2}2 - {(a-b)/2}2  =   ab
Substitute “a” = 17 and “b” = 1
Therefore, the above equation becomes
{(17+1)/2}2 - {(17-1)/2}2  =17x1
Or  92 - 82  = 17

Now using the same formula can you express 18 as difference of 2 squares
