Alphamatics, JMO

The alphabets given below represent a unique number between 0 to 9.
find the alphabets

                    E   I   N
                    E   I   N
                    E   I   N
     +             E   I   N
------------------------
               V  I    E   R

Answer:

by inspection: E and I can be 2 or 8 interchangeably.

but since there are 4 digits in the total sum, E will be 8 and therefore I will be 2.
N can only have a value of 1.

so, EIN = 821
VIER = 3281.
